Power bleach: a report of case series
Introduction: The desire to have whiter teeth has become an important aesthetic need of patients today. Nothing could be more desirable than a beautiful, sparkling, white smile. One of the most frequent reason a patient seeks dental care is discoloured anterior teeth. The spectrum of treatment for the management of discoloured teeth ranges from minimally invasive therapies such as microabrasion, macroabrasion and bleaching to invasive options such as placement of direct restorations, veneers, and crowns. Case report: A total of four patients reported to our department with chief complains of discoloured anterior teeth. On intra-oral examination, they were diagnosed as Grade IV dental fluorosis. Then in subsequent visits, vital bleaching procedure was performed with a pola office bleaching agent using power bleach technique. This treatment session took approximately three visits to obtain desired result. Conclusion: Power bleaching should be used in cases when time is at a premium & patients expect faster results. Power bleaching with a high intensity LED device provides more intense bleaching for a longer period without the risk of pulpal damage, selective heating during bleaching, low sensitivity and effective bleaching action on the fluorosed teeth.
